The smallest house
Information
The "Smallest House", with its town hall and castle, is one of Wernigerode's most famous buildings, the colorful city on the Harz. The house dates back to 1792. The inhabitants of our smallest house are documented since 1885. The last user died very old in 1976. Today the house is owned by the city and a museum.
This design makes it possible for each guest to commit this unique structure without any additional safety equipment. Sturdy shoes and a bit of courage are enough to experience a very special adventure at a height of 100 meters. Surrounded only by air, a little steel and breathtaking nature, the Rappbodetal can be seen from a unique perspective.
The late Gothic building was first mentioned in 1277 as Spelhus. Noteworthy are the figure carvings under the roof and on the ground floor, depicting secular and ecclesiastical figures as well as carnival races. The east side was decorated with Knaggenfiguren, which represent typical occupations of the city.
